I am full Samoan. Born and raised in the small Islands of American Samoa, territory of the United States. Although we are under the rulings of the United States, we have our own culture. My culture rules is different in expectation wise compared to the outside. We may live in the American Lifestyle, but it won’t change how we identify and present ourselves. One time that I acted differently was when I went to boat dance this year. I usually don’t go to events. But if I do I would just sit back and watch people. But at boat dance I had an opportunity to have fun, and that’s exactly what I did. It was a night to remember. The reason why I said I acted differently was because during events that I go with my parents and family I sit back and just stay in my own little bubble because when parent are with you, there is a certain way you have to act. In specific on what kind of way, meaning you have to show respect. But during boat dance I had fun because I was free to do what I want because parents aren’t there. I don’t mean now that I’m free I get to do stupid stuff. Nope! It’s just it felt like I don’t have that wall in front of me stopping me from having fun.
