Summer is coming up, and it’s our last summer vacation before we head off to college. Some of us will be making good use of that time, while some of us will just be chilling at home watching Netflix all day. Don’t be that person to let your summer vacation pass by and be full of regret! I want each and every one of you readers to make the best of the last long summer vacation you will ever have, before you head off to college. Let me tell you now, that your summer vacations in college will probably be occupied by internships or other plans. So if you have no plans for summer yet, you’re in the right place so continue reading!

  1. Go on a road trip with your friends

Goodbyes are tough, especially knowing that some of your friends will be studying at a different college on the opposite side of the state, or even country. Whether you all squish into your parents’ minivan or buy an airplane ticket, the memories you create will bring all of you much closer and can even make you more motivated to keep in touch in college.

2. Get familiar with your college town

I know you have a whole 4 long years to get to know your college town, from the best restaurants to the best hangout places, but why not do it before you actually start your college experience? Whether you have a basic list of libraries, and restaurants, or a map of the transportation system, it can help prevent you from being a clueless freshman.

3. Get in shape

Transitional periods can be a great opportunity to form some new habits. If you’re someone that completely bugged out on homework and didn’t have much time to get your daily physical activities into your schedule, summer may be the perfect time for you to get started. Take advantage of your free time, and put it towards your health! This can also be a good way to avoid the “freshman 15” if you establish good exercising habits!

4. Hit up favorite hometown spots

Some of you out there are probably super excited to get away from home, but I know there are those that are dreading it as well. If you’re leaving town for college, you might want to savor those special things about your hometown before you go! Gather up your friends, and just visit all your favorite places together. Even though you’ve seen them all before, you never know when you’ll be wishing you were there!

5. Branch out from high school friends

You guys probably think that it’s important to stick close to your high school friends right? College is a time to start fresh, so why not begin now? Upon your arrival in college, you will be surrounded by new groups of people from high and low, so might as well get used to it! You’re most likely going to have to make new fiends, so put those “friend-making” skills to use and meet new people, even better if they will also attend your college.
