This week six students were allegedly charged with drug possession and distribution. During a raid by the Department Of Homeland Security, four pounds of Ecstasy, also known as “Molly” was confiscated at their respective houses. The alleged suspects were of Asian decent and apparent part of a larger operation going on over seas. The US Postal Service saw something suspicious in packages being sent to their place of operation and alerted Homeland Security. The total value of drugs were estimated at around $100,000. The students were apparently part of a fraternity and sorority. They all held leadership positions in the respective groups which lead to questioning of the groups. Also, this caused the groups to temporarily suspend operations. Other members and leadership members claim to have a zero tolerance policy with drugs, but with all that has happened many find their groups to be questionable. All members come of Asian decent and have gotten the drugs overseas from an apparent Asian source. The names of the suspects are: Mariah Daniel, Benny Liu, Cecilia Le, Haoi Nguyen, Nathan Tieu, and Cesar Casil. All students were all age 21 and operating under the “Ecstasy Ring.” Both the fraternity and sorority described themselves as Asian American Interest Groups. Some speculate the groups are just a smaller cover up to a larger situation, while others think it is just a band of smaller operations happening within said groups. Either way, these six were caught and will suffer consequences in court. The court date is yet to be announced.
