THE LASTING FEAR OF FLINT’S WATER CRISIS

In the short film “The Lasting Fear of Flint’s Water Crisis”, the artist/director uses creative filming techniques like many close ups and b-rolls.The b roll showed the uses of water- the value that it has in our daily lives. The fact that the water is contaminated makes us realize that clean water is so vital. They put voices in the background to hear people’s stories. We learn how they feel about the situation while seeing the damage that has been caused.

DEAF NOT DUMB

In the short video “Deaf Not Dumb”, the artist/director uses a a music video format to discuss issues that deaf people face on a daily. The aim was let people know that just because someone is deaf, they are not dumb. The video had alot of animation. The text on the video were subtitles. Then the role is reversed ,the viewers assimilated instead of deaf people. This makes people more educated and less ignorant about the situation.

A CRISIS OF OPPORTUNITY

In the short film “A Crisis of Opportunity”, Mimi Schiffman uses a documentary style by following a teenager from Queens and his struggles/worries for college. Frisly Soberanis, a student, told his story, Schiffman is able to gain sympathy from viewers. There were clips of big moments in Soberanis life, like him graduating from high school, and doing music. She also provides of him with his family and how they are trying to get by. He deserves an education like everyone else no matter if you are legal or not.
