If you’ve read my previous posts, you might know that I’m a thriller author and a big fan of mystery reads. Now, let’s dive into my recent read, Nikhil Nannaware’s The Whistler. It starts with a scary discovery in Vizag on January 2nd, shaking the city with a gruesome murders.

Detective Kirti takes charge, thinking of someone painting a dark picture for New Year’s. But as she digs deeper, more murders happen, and it feels like someone’s playing games with her and the team.

I’m happy to read this book as the location setting is in my home town, Vizag.

The Plot

The author created the story with surprising turns when we learn about Nihit’s troubled past from his teenage years. An old incident still haunts him, pushing him to add names to a death list. The past comes back, showing shadows that have followed Nihit.

The Character Development

The author’s storytelling weaves suspense and psychology seamlessly. Characters feel real, and their connected stories keep you on edge. Though Detective Kirti’s role was expected to be more prominent, the overall story is still okay to read.

The Shadows

The main question is whether Nihit unintentionally caused the chaos. His teenage tragedy holds the key to the shadows following him. While it's not a massive improvement, it's okay to read. The hope for Detective Kirti's more significant involvement didn't fully meet expectations, but the story still holds your attention.

Conclusion

Overall, this book is okay to read as the author skillfully mixes mystery, suspense, and psychology. It’s more than a crime thriller; it’s a journey into the human mind and the impact of the past. It’s not a huge upgrade, but it’s okay for one-time read.

Did you enjoy my review? I’d greatly appreciate it if you could give it a clap.
