Drinking Coffee After 12? Here’s Why I Don’t
I know a lot of people who come home from work at 4 o’clock in the evening and decide to have a coffee, which I used to do until a while ago.
In this article I will tell you the reason why I stopped doing this and what important benefit it brought me.
For those who don’t know any amount of caffeine consumed has a half-life of about 6 hours.
To be more explicit with what this means if we drink 100mg of caffeine at 4pm in the evening, at 10pm in the evening there will still be about 50mg of caffeine in the body and this will be completely eliminated by 4am in the morning.
How does this affect us?
Well the main problem I noticed when I had a coffee at 4pm was that I couldn’t fall asleep before 11pm, and when I woke up in the morning I was extremely tired.
For me the 4 o’clock coffee had simply become a routine and I didn’t see anything negative in it. I thought it just gave me enough energy boost to go to the gym.
Then I had a chat with a doctor who told me about the negative effects of drinking coffee in the afternoon and advised me that the last coffee should be around 12 noon.
