Facing challenges

Challenges come and go. And they leave lessons behind. Lessons that help you grow, especially if you are trying to do things out of your comfort zone.

You may feel tempted to avoid facing challenges, but nevertheless life will keep throwing them your way whether you like it or not.

So, today I’ll discuss why you should embrace new challenges in life and how you can find strength to overcome them.

How do challenges help you grow?

1. Discover your limitations: When facing challenges, you get a better understanding of your limitations.

You learn about your weaknesses and strengths and things you don’t know or completely understand.

You learn a lot about the scope of your existing knowledge and where it is or isn’t applicable.

And with this insight you can map out areas that you need to improve upon to become a better version of yourself.

2. Learn new things: Most of the times, to find the best solutions for your problems, you will have to expand your horizon of knowledge.

You must dive deep into topics that you know only superficially. You will have to explore new subjects and cover new grounds.

You have to enter new arenas and practice new skills, skills that will last you life time.

3. Realise your potential: When you overcome problems, you realise that you are capable of doing a lot more than you think. That you have the potential to achieve great things.

All you ever need is the willingness to learn to be able to solve problems of any magnitude.

4. Improve Self-confidence: Successfully facing any challenge, big or small, boosts your self confidence.

It instills confidence in your abilities to solve problems, take risks, learn new skills and most importantly, accept failure as part of the learning process.

5. Accept failure and adversity in life: Not all problems are met with appropriate solutions and there are inevitable failures along the way. Embracing challenges regardless of the outcome helps you deal with adversity and failures light heartedly. You become bold and fearless.

How to overcome challenges?

1. Positive mindset: It brings positive results. No matter how tough the challenge, if you approach it with positive energy and thoughts and believe that you can learn something from the experience, you will find it easy to deal with the situation.

Having a negative mindset instead, stops you from thinking clearly and accentuates the monstrosity of a problem.

2. Self belief: You have to believe in your abilities to be able to solve any problem. Have a can do attitude and half your problems are solved. Now you can focus on the other half, that is finding the solution to your problems.

3. Ask for help: There is no shame in asking for expertise of others if you don’t know how to solve your problems. After all, we are all humans and no one person knows everything. You have to be confident enough to know when to seek help from others.

4. Don’t worry about the outcome: You will be able to better focus on the problem if you are not too busy worrying about the results.

Analyse the challenge at hand, decide the outcome, create a strategy to achieve those results and start working.

Not worrying about winning or losing will keep your anxiety at bay. You will be able to give your best shot and most likely emerge victorious. If not, you will be better prepared for your next challenge.

Conclusion:

Challenges are tough and exhausting. They test your patience and can make your life a living hell.

But challenges are what make you stronger, build character and bring opportunities to rise to your true potential. They teach lessons that you won’t learn in your comfort zone. They make you fearless and your life a memorable journey.

So always welcome challenges with a smile on your face and say, “Try me.”
