During World War II, Hermann Wilhelm Göring was a prominent political and military leader of Nazi Germany. He had a very close relationship with Adolf Hitler, the “Führer,” and held significant influence within the Nazi Party.

Göring served in many key roles across the party, government, and military, including Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe (German Air Force), Head of the Gestapo, head of the Four-Year Plan, President of the Reichstag, Commander of the Stormtroopers, Minister of Economy, and Prime Minister of Prussia. He was also designated by Hitler as his successor.

Born on January 12, 1893, in a diplomatic family in Bavaria, Germany, Göring was sent to the Karlsruhe military academy at age 12 and later to the Gross-Lichterfelde military academy near Berlin at age 16.

He was very satisfied with his studies and life at the military academy. After graduating in 1912, Göring joined an infantry regiment stationed in Mulhouse.

In 1914, when World War I broke out, Göring transferred from the army infantry regiment to the air force, becoming an excellent reconnaissance aircraft observer.
