Shorts Short Poem
And a love story
Roopa was a good daughter-in-law.
She could cook, and made a mean cuppa chai.
At work and home, with requests she would comply.
In mum-in-law’s eyes, Roopa had but one flaw:
In jeans and tee shirts, Roopa looked like a guy!
To please mum-in-law Roopa wore clothes gender conventional
However, those clothes were boring, Roopa found them flappy,
While wearing jeans and tees made Roopa happy!
Traditional women’s clothes felt one-dimensional
Why wear something that made her feel crappy?
Then, one day, Roopa twisted her ankle.
The pain was awful, and Roopa strech-wrapped a crepe bandage around it
Roopa was effectively grounded
Roopa wore shorts, so she could wrap the bandage without a tangle
Mum-in-law kept mum, for Roopa wore shorts so that the ankle wrap didn’t rankle.
Roopa’s ankle healed, away fell the bandage of cotton and crepe
However, Roopa kept on her comfy shorts
No longer did she want in fabric her knees to drape
