This morning I came across an article about the fact that more and more writers are quitting and leaving Medium, and in this article I will tell you what I think is the reason why this is happening.

First of all, many people choose to write articles just to earn some extra money, without being passionate about it. Unfortunately for many people this game ends quickly and they choose to leave when they realize that if you don’t write with passion this will be noticed immediately.
To all those who asked me what they need to be successful on Medium my answer was passion, because yes you need to find the source of motivation to keep going when things don’t go exactly the way you want.

Secondly, some writers quit because they don’t have a long term plan. I see a few articles from people who are making hundreds of dollars a month and think they can do it.
Unfortunately those who write about reliable results on Medium are only a small fraction of all the writers on this platform and most of the time these are the ones who have years behind them or have experience in the field.
Consider that over 90% of writers on Medium earn under $100 and only 1% earn over $1000 from writing articles.
