We can’t put our phones down. iPad babies watching Cocomelon burst louder than thunderstorms when you take away their screens. Social media has taken over our worlds.

But is our world really such a technological dystopia? We, who are always on our devices, can also indulge in the beauties of the world, the orange and violet sunset, the starry night; I once saw a couple kiss under the July 4th sky.

Nobody had their phones out then.

And remember when you were a kid, pointing out the shapes in clouds? Staring at a trail of ants for hours on? It’s that inner child within you that is activated during those sightseeing sessions, during the blasting of the fireworks.

You didn’t have your phone out then, and you probably didn’t even have a phone.

Somewhere along your life, such curiosity died. The enjoyment in discovery, not numbers on a screen going up, not the dopamine spikes from watching a movie.

And maybe that curiosity died when you learned that life isn’t all rainbows and unicorns. Learning about taxes really does suck the energy out of most. Or you just don’t have the time to be curious. A 9 to 5 job is way more than just 8 hours. However you did it, you lost curiosity.

But how can you re-ignite it within you? How will you enjoy discovery?

The simple truth is, you have it within you. We all love discovery. It’s just that, we need to discover what we want to discover. We need to find our passion. The thing we’ll give our lives for.

Because passion is a far greater addiction than any others.
