You Haven’t Received Your Medium Payment for August. Here’s Why

I have received a lot of messages from people complaining that they didn’t receive the Medium payment for their work in August, and because I saw that there is a lot of interest in this topic I have chosen to tell you what I think are the reasons why this happened.

First of all for those who haven’t heard Medium has introduced a minimum payment amount of 10$. From this came the Medium Partner Program Rollover Balance which means that if last month you didn’t reach the minimum of $14.5 ($10 balance for 30% tax for non-US) then all your money will be carried over to the next month.
This will happen until you reach this threshold for Medium to send it to your Stripe account.

The second reason is that this being the first month since this change happened I think there may have been some errors in Medium’s payments.
On September 5 I received an email saying that I didn’t reach the $10 threshold, even though I won $180 last month, followed by an email apologizing for the mistake and saying that I would receive the money this month.
