  • Why work with me: I’m high energy and action (like a triple espresso), I’m experienced (as an entrepreneur and with 100s) and I’m a creative strategic (my ideas come out of the box from left field).

Despite my preaching of focus, I love variety and cross-pollenizing knowledge. So I’m going to continue to work with a number of companies across the globe. Here are some of my content areas.

Finding Focus

A big lesson for my own businesses is that you need to win a focused segment first, and then scale. For startups, innovations in big companies and ecosystems, this is critical.

Being Entrepreneurial

I’ve done dozens of workshops with employees or families where they learn how to be take risks by launching their own startup. It’s like a mini hackathon.

  • Promote entrepreneurial behaviour in your team or children
  • Encourage risk-taking in a safe environment
  • Share a creative process
  • Develop ideas that could become real businesses
  • Learn startup entrepreneurial concepts and use tech startup tools
  • Create energy and excitement in your group which continues on and leads to a positive experience by members

Investor Relations

Capital raising can be necessary to grow a big business and I’ve raised a lot for my own companies. I share my experience and tools on the strategy, how to prepare your company and also how to build relationships with investors.

How I Work

Starting call — I’m always happy to have a call to understand your situation, what you want/need and how/if I can help.

Workshops — I love being in front of a group with a blank whiteboard. I can unblock, inspire, focus and get you moving. Can be one off or a series.

Long term — Join as an advisor, often with a lot of work upfront and then changing as your company grows.

Passion Areas

My baseline of experience and joy is technology entrepreneurship. It’s a big field so here are a few areas I’m particularly excited about.

Women in tech — women are still way too under-represented. I would love to work with more women tech entrepreneurs. I’ve also written a novel I’m trying to get published.

Young entrepreneurs — I’m a big believer in creating jobs of the future, not hoping for one. Young people with the courage and skills to create companies delight me and I’m always happy to support programs driving this area.

Sustainability and climate action — The increase in prosperity has come at a cost to our environment. This can impact the delicate ecosystem and threaten our life, let alone our current lives. My firm belief is that it is already going to be bad, but if we work hard, together, then we can stop it being really bad. This includes energy, food, water, sequestration, transport, cities, etc.

Education — I’ve got three kids and thinking about their future work prospects is complex. AI, robotics, MR and space travel are going to make life in 20 years unrecognizable. How do you educate someone for that? Current education based on 100 year old principles, even with the most passionate, caring, wonderful teachers is not going to be enough. Nurturing, not squashing creativity, multiple right answers… I don’t know but I know we need more.

VR/AR/MR — virutal, augmented and mixed reality are going to have big impacts and I’m just excited by it. I’ve got an Oculus Rift and love seeing people’s first experiences.

AI — It’s going to be a base line and I want to make sure I’m working with it, not a consequence of it.
