Dark chocolate covered nuts

Everyone gets chocolate cravings every now and then, and while you can simply grab a bar of pure chocolate to satisfy your chocolaty sweet tooth, there are much healthier and tastier options you can go with, such as chocolate covered fruits and nuts.

But not just any kind of chocolate — dark chocolate in particular for its numerous health benefits over all other types of chocolate.

There is an endless number of dark chocolate covered snacks on the market, and while everyone may have their own taste and opinion, the following ten are arguably the best in terms of deliciousness and healthfulness. These include both dried fruits and raw nuts coated with dark chocolate.

1. Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries

Cherries aren’t just a delicious, cheerful snack, they are also loaded with several health-promoting nutrients including natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. They are particularly good for heart health, and so is dark chocolate. What a perfect combo of lavish flavor and healthy nutrients!

2. Dark Chocolate Covered Raisins

I often enjoy snacking on a handful of raw raisins in the morning alongside a cup of tea. Stuffed inside a coating of chocolate; even better! Raisins are also loaded with many beneficial nutrients and they are a good source of dietary fiber, which helps with digestion.

3. Dark Chocolate Covered Blueberries

I love everything about blueberries; their color, shape, size and taste! They are one of the healthiest berries on Earth and they are considered a superfood due to their high nutritional content. They are a great source of vitamins C and K1, as well as manganese. Blueberries’ powerful antioxidant properties have been linked to improved heart health, brain/cognitive function, and may also protect against aging.

4. Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries

If you’d prefer something more fruity then these bulky berries are quite refreshing and nutritious. They are particularly high in vitamin C, folic acid, and potassium.

5. Dark Chocolate Covered Cranberries

Whenever you’re craving something bitter, sour and sweet, chocolate-coated cranberries will fix that for you! And like the rest of its family members, this berry is also rich in health-boosting antioxidants and flavonoids.

6. Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts

Luscious, buttery and nutty macadamia nuts are one of my top guilty pleasures. Just keep these away from me because I won’t be able to resist! If you’ve never tried these before and have no idea what I’m talking about, then just give them a try! They’re quite pricey though.

7. Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds

This seems to be the most popular choice among all other chocolate-coated nuts. Maybe because almonds are considered among the healthiest foods, or maybe just because they really taste good!

8. Dark Chocolate Covered Pecans

With their mild crunch and strong, nutty, buttery flavor, pecans and chocolate go very well together. Pecans are loaded with many essential nutrients including a notably high content of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, as well as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. It is also believed that pecans help promote weight loss, and as a matter of fact, so is dark chocolate. Of course, if that’s true, it doesn’t mean you can eat a pound or so of these everyday and expect to lose weight!

9. Dark Chocolate Covered Walnuts

Some people like pecans, others prefer walnuts, and I just adore both! Walnuts are a little chunkier, but less dense and contain almost double the amount of protein found in pecans. Walnuts are also a good source of many vitamins and minerals and they are particularly renowned as one of the richest plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

10. Dark Chocolate Covered Brazil Nuts

If you have strong teeth, then you can enjoy crunching these sizable nuts! They are delicious and highly nutritious. Brazil nuts are one of the richest sources of the mineral selenium, which is a powerful antioxidant that has been linked to numerous health benefits, such as protection against certain cancer types, heart disease, mental decline and thyroid problems.
