2022 was a very memorable year! It was full of exciting events and moments that will stay with Microsoft Student Community for a long time.

Microsoft Student Community, KIIT Chapter, is a technical community that focuses on showcasing and nurturing talented enthusiasts. Starting years back, our community has been committed to elevating the technological coding culture of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar by providing opportunities to students to work on projects and boost their analytical and logical capability which aids them to develop technical and career skills for the future.

Our Team

The most renowned events in 2022 expanded over various domains of the community. The world saw the advancement of technology and the development of artificial intelligence. Let’s recap the year!

The year started with a blast. In February, we went on the app development journey with our FLUTTERVERSE boot camp.

From being FlutterVerse Geeks to becoming FlutterVerse Gods!

Google’s Flutter is a widely used frontend development platform that lets programmers create stunning frontends for any screen. The event gave the students a good understanding of Flutter and could make their dream apps.

The next expedition was challenging, yet the most interesting one! As the world was restoring itself from online to offline, we had organized the first hybrid tech event FRONTEND WITH BENEFITS ~ CSS and Chill!

In March 2022, Frontend with Benefits ~ CSS and Chill was the first hybrid of KIIT UNIVERSITY!

Frontend with Benefits was a frontend hackathon 2-day event. Participants had to design a webpage following the problem statement provided. FrontEnd with Benefits not only helped students academically but the fun they had at the event was unforgettable! Fun activities like scavenger hunt and giveaways and lots of networking made the experience amazing than ever! How could it not be fantastic!

We strongly believe in sharing the knowledge that we learn and acquire. As the trials continue our next workshop was lined up — DATABYTE ~ Sustainability with MLability.

DATABYTE ~ Sustainability with MLability was an intriguing learning session with International speakers and guests!

Databyte was a Machine Learning and Data Visualization workshop themed on Sustainable Development Goals. It was an exciting opportunity for the new learner as this workshop was presented in No Code technology.

The most heartwarming event was during July 2022. There was a burning passion in the hearts of the new leading team, as well as sweet tears to bid farewell to the previous leads. Together we faced challenges, overcame obstacles, and celebrated our successes. We will always remember the strong team spirit and the positive energy that we shared.

The new team was given the responsibility, they proved that they had the capability of achieving great milestones. Sounds like the circle of life? On that note, we heartily congratulate all the leads and wish them for their continued success in the future.

Our first offline workshop was held in August. DevOps Workshop was a 1-day workshop which was conducted to bring awareness to DevOps.

DevOps Workshop where Developers learned to Operate

DevOps is used everywhere, by every organization for the management of their software and services. We need to make the participants aware of the importance of DevOps and how it is used by almost every company for efficiently managing their software and services.

In October, a beginner friendly workshop in the field of open source software was conducted and awareness was raised about HacktoberFest. Our knowledgeable speaker — Oum Kale for the session guided us on the journey to OpenSource.

Spread the word about OpenSource!

We encouraged the young minds to participate in HacktoberFest. We assisted them in the workshop where they were explained about each step from making a GitHub account to practicing small projects.

In November, we had our flagship event — Project Wing! Project Wing is an online accelerated program designed to provide engineering students with skills that will help them stand out from the crowd by contributing and creating an industry relevant project.

Project Wing’22 - Your Perfect Project Partner consists of 6 dynamic projects and 3 conference papers domains!

Exceptional teamwork, communication, management, execution and networking skills were portrayed in this project. The year just ended right with this event and the overwhelming response and appreciation by the students and faculty members.

It was nothing less than a cherry on the cake!
