Even if you don’t plan to apply for a KidsTek scholarship, this is great practice for jobs and many other situations where you will need to express yourself through writing.

Copy + paste the questions below into a Google Doc (or Microsoft Word) and answer them to the best of your ability.

The following essay questions are what the scholarship committee weighs most heavily in considering your application.

  1. What has been the most valuable part of the KidsTek program for you? It could be something you learned, something you did, someone you met, or anything that you got from participating in KidsTek.
  2. Why do you want to continue your education beyond high school?
  3. Briefly describe a challenge you have faced, and how you have overcome that. It can be related to school, community, work or family.

Short answers (appears in 1st section of the application):

  • Briefly describe volunteer and/or community involvement during the last year. Include organization name, and what you have done or are doing. If you don’t have any, that’s ok. Just write “none.”
  • List any work experience (paid) or unpaid internships. If you have not had any, that’s ok. Just write “none.”
  • List all colleges, technical or vocational schools or programs you have applied to. Mark a star (*) next to your top pick (or top 2 if you can’t decide yet). If you have already been accepted and have made a decision, please indicate that as well. IF YOU ARE NOT A GRADUATING SENIOR, just list the schools you think you might to apply to in the future.
  • What is your planned major/area of study? Please be as specific as possible. IF YOU ARE NOT A GRADUATING SENIOR, just describe what you think your major/area of study might be.

When you are finished, ask Ms. Meghan to review your answers and help you edit them.

GRADUATING SENIORS: Once Meghan has reviewed your answers, submit them here in the official application
