On Wednesday night the Cuban national baseball team was playing the New Jersey Jackals. Students from the Montclair State University’s journalism program interviewed players from the New Jersey Jackals.

Cory Vaughn answered some of the students’ questions. They asked him about his life growing up and how difficult it was to be the person he is today.

Cory Vaughn said that he was diagnosed with diabetes growing up and he was scared that he was not going to be able to pursue a career in baseball.

“You have to take it one day at a time and in the end whatever is going to happen, happens and I really don't fight it,” he said.

When Cory was young, his dad first introduced him to baseball, it was the first sport Cory played and the first sport he loved.

Cory used to play for the Mets, but he was released. Then he got a call from the head coach for the Jackals to play for them. He couldn’t refuse the offer.

“ I just want to keep the dream living, and keep playing.”

Other than playing baseball he likes to spend time with his family and having fun.

“Its hard to do things on your own, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my parents, my sister, friends and family, so I owe all that to them.”
