“THE HARDEST CHALLENGE OF MY LIFE”

Gianilla Diaz was only 9 years old when her life changed drastically when she moved to Peru from the United States.

The main reason for this change was her wanting to be closer to her family and also older siblings Jerald, Franklin and Carlos.

Life changed ~

During her journey some thoughts have come to her and she was sure it would be fun and interesting but while interviewing Diaz, she explained how it was the hardest challenge of her life.

“I thought it will be fun but ended up being the hardest challenge of my life,” Diaz reflected.

She had to adapt to the way of living, the culture and the education that they have in Peru. Diaz is still traumatized over her past. She had to take 20 classes when she was only in third grade and often had trouble with her school assignments.

While she desperately wanted to go back to the US, she knew that she had no choice but to find a way to adapt in Peru.

“I had to adapt by asking for help and just hanging out with people. I wanted to go back to the US multiple times but I decided to stay,” Diaz remarked.

Living the hard life ~

Eventually, Diaz was able to the most of her time in Peru.

“It was hard but I still managed to pass my classes and have a good time,” Diaz said.

Diaz moved back to the United States two years later due to undisclosed personal issues. She once again had to adapt to her old hometown.

“It was definitely way easier than adapting adapting to Peru,” said Diaz.

Even thought going to Peru was a very difficult experience, it helped her to become more mature in various ways which she is very thankful for.
