The Helping Hand: Christian Cruz gives back to the community

Born and raised in crime infested Passaic, Christian Cruz did not allow the stereotypes that shrouded his city influence him. Growing up his parents taught him to be humble and kind to others.

“Live life to the fullest,” he says, a motto that he lives by daily.

Unfortunately, life hasn’t always been as kind as young Cruz. Three years ago, Cruz suffered a terrifying car accident that left him unable to walk for a week. This tragic incident gave him a moment of clarity, leading him to realize what he would want to do for the rest of his life.

Seeing the “heroic EMTs” rush to his aid left him in awe. He called it “such a selfless act.”.

In addition, Cruz also excels in his academics all in order to achieve his goal of becoming an E.R. surgeon. At such a young age, Cruz decided to always keep himself occupied, so he took up some hobbies like joining the swim team and becoming a baker.

One of Cruz’s favorite quotes are,“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” (John Quincy Adams). He believes that this quote, is reflected the most in his life. Cruz is a leader within his community. He is a man who takes initiative just as he did at his schools very own library. Recently, after the opening of his schools new library, he volunteered to bring equipment over to the new building. He naturally loves to give back to his community.

Cruz who constantly defies the status quo can only be summed up with one word, remarkable, a young man with a bright future, and a born leader.
