When asked what is the hardest part of playing baseball, New Jersey Jackals infielder Art Charles said:

“Consistency, being consistent, I mean it’s huge. It can make you or break you but outside of consistency you have to be strong mentally. I mean it’s a grind. You fail a lot in this sport. If you aren’t strong mentally you get down on yourself really easily, you’re going to fall and it’s going to be a hard fall down.”

It helps to have team members behind you willing to catch you when you fall. Outfielder Cory Vaughn, coach Matt Padgett and infielder Art Charles all share one passion: the love for the game of baseball.

Each experienced personal triumphs and hardships to get to where they are. The last two days have gone down in history.

It had been nearly 20 years since the Cubans had played on U.S. soil. After the political challenges and hardships the Cubans have faced, the passion of both teams came together as one.
