Summer is just around the corner and while everyone dreams of sun, we at Mucho are dreaming of food. We check in with our team of foodies how far they would travel for the ultimate food holiday.

🍦☀️🍦

Why: No matter where I went, the food was fantastic, from food stalls to restaurants. Services were friendly, most of of menus were in English too. The flavours are rich and fresh at the same time. Sometimes I did come across places that were a bit pricey in the touristy areas, but I did not mind at all. There are a vast variety of fruits for very cheap price. If smoothies or juices are your things, indulge!

Tip: It is a very hot city, so things can go off easily. Trust your instincts: if a place does not look clean walk away. If the food you paid for smells or tastes off, ask for a fresh one. I never had any problem with salad and ice there, but if you want to be safe avoid ice cubes and raw leaves. Desserts and coffee tend to be very sweet, so taste before adding more sugar or honey.

“The best meal I had was in Quan An Ngon 138,138 Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa, Bến Nghé, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam.”

Why: When in Jamaica you’d think it would be all about the heat (and not just the weather) we all know Jamaica is known for its Jerk flavour but don’t be fooled into thinking that’s all they have to offer. The fresh snapper is a must, you could have been eye to eye with your dinner earlier in the day whilst scuba diving and then sat by the very same sea in the evening sampling fresh, grilled snapper whilst the waves lap at your feet.

Tip: In Jamaica it’s hard to avoid the Rum. It seems to accompany most meals (and sunbed sessions) and if you weren’t a Rum fan when you arrive you will be by the time you leave!

Why: Great seafood and traditional dishes are super tasty + I had the best Paella I’ve ever tasted.

Tip: I think it works similar in any destination, the main advise when you are travelling is ‘ask the locals for recommendations’.

The best meal I had was the Seafood Paella from La Marquesina in Corralejo.

Why: The food in Bali is always prepared from locally grown ingredients. Plenty of sun and lack of long distance travels make all ingredients taste so much better. From spices to rice, everything tastes vibrant and fresh. The dishes are varied, ingredients exotic, and there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. Adding to that is Balinese culture that celebrates being outside and close to the nature. Summing up you’ll have the most delicious meal with local, seasonal ingredients, served on the beach or among beautiful rice fields, drinking a coconut on the side :-)

Tip: Explore, it’s the only place where TripAdvisor didn’t solve the issue of restaurant selection for me. The best recommendations I got were from friends and locals. It also pays off to try random food stands and small bars as you might find yourself a gem, no one else knows about.

Why: I love tapas. They are rich in flavour and can be shared with friends (meaning you get to try a lot more varieties!) You are likely to come by adventurous servings like Rabo de Toro (Bull’s Tail) and other meat heavy dishes, so I’m glad I went there before turning pescatarian! Pair your meal with a Sangria or Vermouth and you pretty much have the perfect dining experience!

Tip: Skip bigger cities like Barcelona and Madrid, where restaurants tend to charge double or triple the prices you will find in Seville.
