Oct 2019 Update: Path-based conditions, 10x faster data polling, multiple new indicators
The 3rd quarter of 2019 was dedicated to building out different revenue streams, improving our infrastructure to handle scale and launch the marketplace. As we head into the last quarter of the year, we want to focus back on our roots and consolidate the phenomenal growth that has happened this year.
We want to spend the last quarter working on improving strategy creation by providing our creators' different tools like path-based action, limit orders, profit preservation, etc. In parallel, we are also working on building out a completely new marketplace experience. The next few months promise to bring a ton of new things we look forward to!
Key Highlights
- Trading volume in Oct grew 20% over Sep 2019. This month we saw the highest amount of capital deployed across strategies on Mudrex. With the overall amount touching ~500K USD in mid-Oct.
- Users did over 30000 Years worth of backtests in Oct! Users not only ran backtests longer but also ran ~1100 backtests each day. Both of these are the highest to date!

Marketplace Updates
Before being added to the Marketplace, each strategy goes through a thorough review process to ensure that they work as promised. The strategies are tested by the creators and validated by the Mudrex team for reliability. Below are the top three strategies this month on the Mudrex Marketplace
It is a liquid time-agnostic algorithm designed and optimized for Bitcoin’s 2019 market conditions. The strategy runs best on low leverage values. This has been the best performing strategy this month on Bitmex Exchange
This strategy is built on an indicator that proved its consistency for several decades. It is currently being provided at a discount. This was the best performing strategy this month on Deribit Exchange
This is one of our oldest strategies and has been super helpful in consolidating altcoins. It works best on BNB/USDT on Binance and is our top-performing strategy this month for Binance
Some of our other strategies like Windmill Deribit and Windmill Bitmex also saw upgrades to reduce risk and increase reliability.
Product Updates
We implemented numerous product updates over the last month. Below are some of the important ones:
Path-based strategy creation
The Mudrex Visual Strategy Editor provides different kinds of blocks to create strategy conditions. These conditions can be further combined to create complicated strategies. To combine such conditions, the user connects different kinds of blocks with each other. Whenever two blocks are connected a ‘Path’ is created between them.
Hence the connection between any two blocks is called a ‘PATH’.
You can now use give ‘PATH’s names and also decide what actions can be taken on these paths. You can decide to use a path and the strategy conditions associated with it just to ‘Open’ a position or ‘Close’ it or ‘Reverse’ it. Read more about it here.
Faster Data Polling and execution to reduce slippage
We updated our data polling infrastructure to move to near realtime data fetching as opposed to a delayed data fetching earlier. This has resulted in a massive decrease in slippage and in turn, has helped save a ton of money for our users.
