A weekly collection of interesting…

Happy Thursday, everyone!

First, a big announcement…

I am very pleased and excited to announce that one of the projects I’ve been working on is live! It’s a webcomic called Atad the Philosopher Pigeon. The first eight comics are now online, and I plan to add more over the coming months. You can see the first one here, and click through for the rest.

Now, here’s what I’ve been musing this week…

Creativity is hard. Sustaining it over a lifetime is even more so. This article lays out some lessons learned about long haul creativity, and they’re pretty good ones.

I love it that there are more and more books being written (and written well) about the science of everyday life, and how understanding it a bit better makes life richer, more colorful, and sometimes a bit easier, too. This article expands on that idea nicely.

Self-control is, according to research, turning out to be one of the most crucial characteristics that determine if someone is successful in society or not. But can self-control be learned? As it turns out, it can; you just have to hang out with other people who are good at it.

So why haven’t we met any intelligent aliens yet? Here’s an interesting answer… it’s not that they invented weapons of mass destruction and blew themselves up, but that they entertained themselves to death…

Do you ever have problems getting to sleep? A new study shows that journaling can help you sleep — but you need to write a list of things to be done tomorrow, rather than about things you completed today.

What I’m reading:

Nothing this week as I was busy getting caught up with other things. I’ll have more book recommendations next week.

Thanks for reading, and have a great week!
