Right now, at this very moment, I am getting goosebumps thinking of this young man who is winning millions of hearts in India and abroad.
Around 8–9 months before or so, I was about to succumb to boredom. Usually not a big fan of reality shows, but as a music enthusiast at heart, that day, out of the blues, I stumbled across Indian Idol 13 Audition Round.
And boy oh boy! There enters a skinny young lad named Rishi Singh. What happened next is history! A 19-year-old kid from nowhere, with no formal music training, from a highly humble background — he is just like that perfect example of sheer talent and grace!! Would you believe — this gifted boy was once adopted by his parents? I am sure, his biological mother must be crying silently today.
I can’t forget that moment when he sang Tu Pehla Pehla Pyaar. A song I had never heard before, and a raw, fresh voice was about to mesmerize me. Like the three judges, I had the same vibes that, that’s how a star is born!
The Journey
The story of Rishi Singh, the winner of Indian Idol 13, is one that will leave you inspired and amazed. Born in Ayodhya, Rishi’s life must have started out on a difficult note. His biological mother deserted him after his birth, leaving him to be adopted by his loving parents.

Doesn’t matter how long have you been ignored, doesn’t matter how hard your struggle has been, never forget to polish your skillet. Like a singer does his Riyaz, it’s a continuous pursuit of excellence, till the world recognizes you!
With passion, perseverance, and a refusal to give up, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. So if you’re feeling discouraged or disheartened, take a leaf out of Rishi Singh’s book.
