Global eCommerce sales are, according to DHL, going to grow with a stunting 141% from 2016–2021 and that cross-border trade will grow twice as fast as domestic.

Imagine the number of deliveries to highly populated areas when urbanization is going in the same direction.

Along with this more and more cities are regulating traffic in the city centers with time slots for heavy vehicles, and even car free cities.

This will force a shift in paradigm within the logistic world. The one with the most trucks won’t win anymore, but new services will be needed to meet the demand of customers. That being an environmental sustainable solution.

For the logistics industry this drills down to capacity and new inventions. Electric cars and bicycles are concepts that many logistic service providers are looking into but it won’t be enough.

This is where MuleChain comes in. The most efficient way of finding capacity is using an underutilized existing one.

With 5,7 million rides daily, the New York subway reaches 472 stations. A great distribution network in a city whit very high density.

If you were to hand every passenger a 3 lb package, you would be able distribute a capacity equal to 300 40ft containers.

This is one city, one mead of transport. If we add pedestrians, taxi rides, bicycle commuters etc. the potential is enormous.

A professor asked a group of students if a glass is full after he filled it with many rocks up to the brim. The students said yes. Then he started to fill gravels and sands into the glass until it is up to the brim. He asked the students again if the glass is full. The students said again it is full now. Then the professor started to fill the glass with beer until it is up to the brim. He asked the students yet again if the glass is full. The students answered yes and then they started to realize that there is a message to be learned here.

MuleChain is a platform that could unleash the power of the crowd and play a big role in sorting the logistic challenges of the future, and that future is soon.
