It is our greatest pleasure to share this post as it means the past 12 months of hard work is finally coming to fruition. We’re finally ready to release our cryptocurrency exchange.

Now, to understand Multi, we’ll start with the most important part of every company — the people and the reasons behind it.

The Multiguanas are getting geared up

Our team consists of 11 nationalities across three continents who bring together a wealth of experience through both success and adversity. Our founding team is made of professionals from the poker industry, e-commerce, fintech, and early blockchain adopters. Our development team includes experts from BMW, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and MouseBelt, the founding member of the Blockchain Education Alliance.

From the sidelines, we’ve seen how the focus of crypto exchanges has gone off-course. Chasing after one player’s tremendous financial success and competing for the highest possible leverage available to retail traders is not the way we envisage the future of trading.

We all like to believe we’re involved in “the next financial industry”, however, the outcome of this belief depends on our actions, not the number of times we keep chanting it at conferences. At the current stage of the industry, a cryptocurrency exchange’s role should be to create a capital market that enables projects working on the building-blocks, use cases, and products for this next financial industry.

How to create this capital market? Help both sides of the marketplace.

How do we help projects?

Firstly, we look for ways to help projects succeed, aside from offering an order book for their token. A few examples of this are becoming a block producer, simplifying staking and creating awareness via our media arm. We believe it’s crucial to understand that without the projects, there would be no exchanges, not vice versa.

How do we help traders?

While our roadmap is long and wide, the first trader pain-point we’re solving is that of margin-trading for altcoins. Low-leverage margin trading with peer-to-peer funding allows proper price discovery to take place. Short selling particularly strengthens the market by exposing overvalued tokens. This is also what we’ve seen most demand for, as altcoins are virtually the only place where retail traders can have an edge. Simultaneously, we allow customers to lend out or stake their tokens in order to earn interest on their holdings. In addition, we’ll also be rolling out various privacy and market-tracking features that we as traders have longed for.
