Throughout the course of this blog, I have went over the many concerns, ideas and explanations on what multi-tasking is really about. However, I have yet to provide clear enough tips for people to really tackle down the essentials in multi-tasking. Summarizing all the blogs, I have come up with a step by step guide on improving a person’s multi-tasking skills.

Setting up goals

Step 1: Establish your goals. What it means by this step is that in order to multi-task, you have to know what needs to be worked on. We can start this by writing things down on planners, memos, post-its and so on.

Evaluate

Step 2: Evaluate and move around tasks that complement each other. This step is made to make sure that the tasks are ordered in a way that would help each other since there are tasks out there that can be performed alongside and aid another.

Setting aside time

Step 3: Setting aside time by planning ahead and giving enough time for the performance of each activity. By doing so, you can concentrate and focus better on the tasks at hand.

Step 4: Prioritize and alternate. This step is created for you to make sure what needs to be done gets done on time.

Step 5: Set aside minimal tasks. This step is to differentiate between urgent and not as important tasks. This way, when there are gaps between tasks, you can easily fill in the time with one of these minimal tasks to save time.

These 5 steps that I have written down above are the basics in guiding a person in becoming more successful in multi-tasking. Most importantly, it is also essential that we are working in an environment that we feel comfortable around for the performance to increase as well.

All in all, multi-tasking is a skill that people use everyday. It is something that is innate and carried on throughout our lives. Simple tasks such was drinking while walking are also examples of multi-tasking. Multi-tasking is not something that people came up out of the blue but rather improved on.
