Cleaning and inspecting pools for 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday, in the hot sun is a lifestyle for Enrique Cajias. He manages his own business called Unlimited Pool and Spa and cleans almost a hundred pools from Broward to Miami all by himself. Enrique travels with his business truck, filled with all the equipment needed throughout the day.

The hot Florida weather, ranging from 80 to 90 degrees, is a challenge for outside workers. Enrique wears special UV-protected clothing, shaded hats, and gloves to avoid the sun as much as he can. As well, listening to music, the radio, or phone calls with friends gives him a distraction from worrying about the heat.

Traffic in Florida is another obstacle when trying to get out of work, especially in Miami. 7 p.m. is not only the time Enrique finishes work but also many other people’s scheduled time to get home. This causes a lot of traffic when going through the highway to get back to Broward from Miami, and it takes Enrique almost 2 hours to get home. Once he gets home, he is finally able to have a home-cooked meal and relax with his family.
