The Answer is Outside
The start of a new year renews our quest for answers. We make commitments in pursuit of new goals, but we often times are looking in the same places, and doing the same things, in the same way, all in search of different results.
Guess what? The answer is outside.
If you are searching for a new job, and you are searching on the same job boards for the same positions, preparing for interviews in the same ways, you’re likely going to get the same results.
If you are searching for new clients, and you are sitting in your office, or in the same coffee shop, speaking with the same people and doing the same things, you’re likely going to get the same results.
If you are reaching for new health and wellness goals, and you are eating the same things, and doing the same workout routines, in the exact same ways, you’re likely to going get the same results.
The Answer is OUTSIDE … of your comfort zone. Easy things are easy. Good results are harder. Great things are difficult to get, and they are very worth it. To get something great, you need to step way out of your comfort zone.
We recently discovered a new set of hiking trails near where we live. We spent a whole afternoon on the trail, outside, and each time we came upon a split on the trail, we always took the path that would take us outside of our comfort zone. We got to learn new things about the new place we discovered, we got to learn new things about ourselves, we had a great workout and we got to share our “new place” with others who might also enjoy it and learn from it too.
That day, we could have gone to our usual trail, that is more convenient and closer to our home, and that we know so well that we can practically walk it with our eyes closed. But instead, we chose to get out of our comfort zone … and we got different … and GREAT .. results.
No one in your house is going to offer you that new killer job you know you deserve. No one in your office is going to offer you that new, big deal you are after. Nothing in your comfort zone is going to get you the GREAT results you are searching for.
The answer is OUTSIDE.
