You’re Not Ready for the AI Revolution: Understanding Levels 1 to 5 of AI
It Will Happen Sooner or Later
By the year 2035, we might achieve Level 5 AI, according to Sam Altman. However, some AI researchers believe it could take 50 years or even more to reach that level.
But what exactly is Level 5 AI, and what are the levels from 1 to 4 that come before it?
OpenAI has divided AI’s working capabilities into 5 stages, from Level 1 to Level 5. In this article, we’ll explore what each level from 1 to 5 of AI is all about.
Level 1: Conversational AI
At Level 1, we have Conversational AI.
In this stage, AI is fully capable of having natural language conversations with humans.
The current state of AI is basically at this level, examples include ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
This kind of AI works based on predefined rules and algorithms, which can be used to automate repetitive tasks.
Level 1 AI can design social media posts, generate basic to medium-level code, and even act as a customer support agent to converse with users. And I’m sure many of you are already using some form of AI in your day-to-day activities.
