Startup Culture in Mumbai

Finally, I landed in Mumbai to work in a tech startup. My friend was calling me from long time and I thought to gave it a shot. I have to admit, the work culture in Mumbai is totally different from typical corporates.

Here are some points which differentiates Powai startup ecosystem from the rest _

  1. Folks here are young and full of energy. Most of them are recent graduates or having couple of years work experience.
  2. There are no typical managers and hierarchy is flattened.
  3. It is difficult to recognize CEO and CTO until you meet them.
  4. You hang out with same folks you work with. They become your constant companions working and partying together.
  5. Developers, designers, sales, marketing and all teams sit under one roof and is open to discussion for ideas and possibilities.
  6. Everyone seems passionate about their work and take full responsibility.

Being in a startup, everyone thinks that they are learning a lot and doing cool stuff. I take it as an alternative to typical boring corporate life where you work with bossy stuff which is not so recognized.

Guys are solving real world problems and they are proud of it. The feel which they work (to change the world) is quite commendable.

I see something new , I feel change. Do I feel inspired? Is this culture the ultimate end to itself. No, It is a hack. It is a new way of co-existing and working. An eco-system where you love your work or at least, I think so.
