Munich Restaurant Notes

One of Munich’s “most honest relics of old-style gastronomy”, serves up “huge portions” of grilled meats, fish and a whole army of other dishes hailing from the Balkans, in a “rustic yet cosy”, narrow dining room. The “homey-ness of the food” is only topped by the family-run service that is “possibly the most professional you’ll get without being at all formal”. This is where it truly shows that the place has been run by the same family (”led by the irresistible Anton ‘Cheffe’ Kovacec”) for nearly 25 years. As the next generation of the family slowly takes over the business, “the crowd that predominantly consists of older guests becomes more and more interrupted by groups of hungry youngsters”. Our recommendation regardless of your age: “Come in spring or summer to sit outside in the wonderful garden” or “visit in winter for a warming bean soup, meat-platter and caramelised Palatschinken (pancake) feast”.
