Senior Thesis/Capstone Day — A Personal Reflection on Thesis Night, Interviews with Senior Presenters, and A Silly Behind the Scenes Retelling about the Function
A Personal Reflection on Thesis Night
by Eric Pastroski
On April 26, 2024 the Media and Communication Majors presented their Senior thesis that they spent the past two semesters working on. The Graduating seniors for Class of 2024 are Brianna Colcantoni, Jo Crello, Dalton Dalton, Abiagel Filon, Maxwell Henry, Jake Horan, Daniel Johnson, Megan Klose, Jason Kramer, Joe Kraus, Jewel Miller, Conrad Schmidt, Jake Smith, Sara Stein and Kaitlyn Steward. Presentations were given within the small little atrium of the Media side of Murphy aligned with Room 108. Video presentation was played on a loop in Room 117. This Event had come after a presentation in the Dining hall room 107 where the graduating seniors gave brief presentations on their Thesis papers. These two events, along with the gathering of people at spruce for the art majors had many people, including Students who had to come to see their upper classmates who are about to graduate and for ideas on what to do for their own Thesis.
I was one of the students who went in for a better idea on what to do for next year and this is my experience. After mistaking the Dining Hall for the Chat Room again (Been here for nearly 3 years and still get them confused) I arrived and took my seat and listened to the presentations. I got myself a can of soda that I dropped on accident and when I opened it, tried to be careful so it wouldn’t explode. After an Hour of familiar faces I got up to discuss some stuff with a partner and then got ready for the Murphy Hall one at 7:00. I arrived at right before 7:00 and walked around taking mental notes along with pictures of what I could. When I got there I thought the Film was wrong (It wasn’t someone’s thesis was a tutorial) I Snagged a soda for later and walked around at all of the Presentations. Listening in to what I can do with that dread within a year that will be me.
Later I drank my Soda watching the Pirate video by Jason Kramer about how Pirates tend to be the underdogs in the media, after that I followed around while dying from my allergies. After meeting with my Partners in research, we traveled together to discuss the works on display which can be viewed here. After some more reflection and the feelings of both fulfillment and dread I discussed the future of my time here at this hall. Later on I left and head out.
