As it is in life, so it is with all bibliophiles and any of their great reads.

One good reading leads to another.

I first heard of Quo Vadis — A Narrative of the Time of Nero, from my high school maths teacher. That was back in the early 1980s.

Quo Vardis, I later discovered, means, "Where are you going?" in Latin. In those days, my teacher used them to encourage us to concentrate more on our schoolwork.

Written in 1896, Quo Vardis won the author, Henryk Sienkiewicz a Nobel prize in Literature in 1905.

Several film adaptations and 40 translations of the novel bear credence to its timeless appeal. I read a 2008 eBook edition from the Project Gutenberg website.

Set in the reign of the infamous Roman Emperor, Nero, this historical novel explores the theme of love, loyalty, and faithfulness. It…
