POETRY ON MEDIUM
More Than A Performer
A Poem of Friendship and Cause
In the darkness of the shadows,
The lunar spotlight came upon.
Few claps and some cheers,
The show was just about to start,
The night was far from dawn.
A night I was more than a performer,
An activist with a simple cause.
Had to put on a show no matter what,
Didn’t care for what I could have lost.
I never danced before,
Nor I ever was under the spotlight.
Bosom buddy asked me to follow the guide,
With trust, I look at the flight.
Nervous at every split of a second,
Was scared that I would do something wrong.
But with confidence, I progressed,
Drove with the beat of the song.
All of a sudden,
I knew I almost botched a move.
But didn’t let it stop me,
I got up and kept following the clues.
