Opportunities Don’t Last Forever 😢

Opportunity likes speed.

Back in the day, I used to be a partner in a graphic and web design business.

One night, my business partner told me he got a lead.

“But we need to be up by 5 AM tomorrow.”

“No, that’s ridiculous,” I said. “If he wants to work with us, he should contact us during normal business hours.”

The argument ended on a cliffhanger. It was already late. I went to bed.

The next day, I asked my partner about this lead again.

He said, “You don’t get it man. We had to be up by 5 AM. He’s just that kind of guy.”

“But can’t you get in touch with him again?”

“No. We missed the boat on that one.”

“But…”

“We had to be up by 5 AM. No exceptions.”

I felt devastated. I couldn’t understand what had gone wrong.

But now I do.

See, the thing about opportunity is this — it LOVES momentum. It loves speed!

If you aren’t willing to get up at 5 AM, you might miss it. Early bird gets the worm.

But don’t misunderstand me. This isn’t just about getting up early.

There may be days when you need to sacrifice some sleep for your dream. That’s almost a given.

There’s no time to move from idea to execution. If it’s a worthy idea, we must move into execution immediately. Otherwise, the opportunity is already lost.

Or, like the twentysomething version of myself that missed out on a big contract for my graphic and web design business…

If you do nothing, you WILL miss innumerable opportunities daily. They will just keep passing you by until you take life by the horns and beat it down to submission.
