Music Mogul Sneak Peek

Tyranno Studios latest play and own Web3 game Music Mogul is comin’ atcha with some exciting news.

This week, you’ll get a super-special sneak peek at how the game is coming along from a visual perspective.

Without further ado, let’s get into it!

A VIP First Look

Before we get into the nitty gritty, let’s first do a quick reset about what Music Mogul is and what are the player goals and motivations.

In Music Mogul, you will start off as an aspiring record exec trying to get your own label off the ground. You start to accumulate a roster of talent that you will send out on the road and perform on various Tours and play a unique set of venues.

Through gigging, Artists will be earning currencies (called “Cred”) that can then be spent in the in-game store to acquire all the components (studio gear and recording personnel) to help record a single. The better your tech and song production team are, the better quality track you will possibly produce.

Once a week we will hold a global “Most Streamed Song” competition by genre. Meaning only one genre will be measured per week. Your Artist can enter their best track into this global streaming competition provided that they submit it by the deadline. Will your track top the charts? Only time will tell, but no matter where you place, you will get “C-Notes” as a reward.

C-Notes are used to purchase additional Artists and gain access to a stratified collection of recording booths. More artists means that you can in turn use them to perform more. More Performance means more Cred. You want to accumulate as much Cred as you can.

The Booths have rarity to them as well, but more on how that works below.

Artists and their “It Factor” ebbs and flows, and week to week their star could rise or fall. There will be in-game news items to give clues as to whose star is on the rise while who might just fade from the limelight.

As we begin to reveal some screenshots from the game, please do note that everything you see is subject to change and that the numeric values displayed are placeholders and will be changed at a later date.

We kick things off on the “Label” tab. Here, you’ll get a well-rounded overview of everything in your arsenal, as well as some personal progress.

The first thing you’ll notice is your Tier Level at the top, placed strategically beside a graph that is designed to track your journey to fame and fortune.

You’ll also be able to get a good look at all of your burgeoning Artists and see if they are available to Record or go Perform.

Each Artist will also display a timer to let you know how long it will be until you can claim their rewards and send them on their next performance or when they are done in the booth recording a song. And, don’t forget to click on each Artist to track their specific stats and progress.

Just below, you will find your list of Studio Crew, aka NPC Staff, as well as any Equipment you may possess.

In the upper right hand corner, you can also see how many C-Notes and Cred you’ve racked up.

Next, we move over to the “Perform” tab, where you can pick a Tour and send your Artist out to bring back the big bucks.

Every slot will show you what Genres are accepted, the required minimum Artist Rarity, cost/length of the Tour and the reward for completing. We are hard at work at adding a couple of twists to touring which will allow for you to take more risk as every tour will not always be successfully completed and the expected comp will not be earned. More info on this will be detailed soon.

If you’ve sent out Artists on Tour and would like to collect your Cred once they’ve returned, you can click on the convenient “CLAIM ALL ‘’ button in the upper right hand corner.

And, if you don’t see a Tour that you can/want to participate in, smash the Refresh button to see new options available to you for a small price. You will soon be able to add more slots to your Performing options.

Moving over to the “Recording” tab, you’ll see a similar layout providing you options of Recording Rooms to rent out. If you have an Artist assigned to a room, you’ll be able to check on them at a glance by referencing their name and photo listed.

By selecting the “ENTER ROOM” button, you will be able to view the Artist assigned, all NPC Staff on the job and any equipment you may be using. Plus, you get a good look at all of your stats, including your C-Notes accrued, Artist bonus, Crew bonus and Equipment bonus.

Better rated (more rare) rooms will have the capacity to stack more gear and increased staffing numbers. Naturally this should lead to your artists recording the best and highest rated tracks possible. The picture below shows a durability rating for the gear, but all gear used to record will be single use and no longer available so pick wisely.

The next tab over is “Competition,” where you can get a comprehensive view of the leaderboards. Pay close attention to the Genre for the week if you really want to make a splash.

How do you go about making a high charting record? It is not an exact science. No creative endeavour ever is. Your track rating will be driven by a number of factors. Those factors include, but are not limited to, Artist rarity level, quality of recording personnel, the quality and quantity of gear used to record and are the stars aligning for the artist at the time of the recording. Don’t like how your track turned out? At some point we are going to let you recycle your track and get a small refund of the currencies used to make that record.

One final note on the Competitions and Performing. The amount of Cred and number of C-Notes rewarded each is fixed. All payouts are tied to percentages. The higher you place the higher percentage points you will receive or the more tours you do the more Cred you will earn. As more players enter the comps the overall percentages will decline per position. This is a key balancing point for us. If the percentages get too low and become too deflationary it will increase the overall pool of C-Notes that can be earned. Striking this equilibrium is always going to be our goal. As the game economies get finalized we will be sharing this information. There are a lot of moving pieces and getting this right for the MVP and this is taking a fair amount of time.

Next, we take a look at the “Syndicates” tab. Syndicates are our version of guilds or factions. At some point in the coming months these group based competitions will come online and be available for all to enjoy.

Last but not least is the “Store” tab. All Moguls need some help from time to time, and this is the place to find it. Here you can browse all currently available NPC Staff and Equipment Packs. If you don’t see something that you want, you will have the option to spend some of your Cred to reroll on each slot. All the slots can be refreshed for free every six hours.

We hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse of what is to come, Moguls. Make sure to join the conversation in Discord and let us know what you think!
