If you are a musician who feels like you need a better hold on your business, read on.

Music ’n’ Brains is an industry event series designed to educate musicians and music business professionals. Think of it as your unofficial MBA in Music Business, based entirely on the experiences of other musicians and music professionals around us.

Our mission is to help musicians build sustainable businesses. What’s missing from the Kenyan music scene is not talent but marketing, branding, business development, fundraising, networking opportunities… Basically everything that makes any ordinary business successful.

We (music ’n’ brainers) cannot carry a tune at all, but we can lead the way to building a music business community that local musicians can tap into for knowledge. The content from each of our events will be captured in video, audio and written formats for perpetual access.

The initial format of our events is a fireside chat with networking sessions before and after the sit down. Fireside chats are our favourite way of getting good stories out of people we admire. Networking before allows us to get to know each other and then after to solidify the relationships starting to form.

We are using our platform to promote new and unknown artists. The dream is to host live performances after the talks. We are not there yet. Right now, we are curating a tracklist with new and unknown music to be played during networking. Afterwards, in the event wrap up, we will publish the playlist and include musicians bio and contact info.

*P.S. Unknown according to everyone who doesn’t know about your music. Yet.

So, here is how to find us:

Monthly events, every first Friday at Creatives Garage.

Our community exists on Facebook Groups.

Articles will be published on Medium.

Playlists will be created on Soundcloud.

Videos will be uploaded to YouTube.

This will all evolve as we learn what works best for you.

Our philosophy is, everyone needs to win. Now more than ever, everything is possible. You will leave every event with hope, new friends and be one step closer to the dream coming true.

To wrap up:

Do you strongly feel that this event is made for you? Come to the next one! Friday, December 1 with Polycarp Otieno (Sauti Sol).

Do you know any amazing musicians and music professionals we should consider to speak at future events? Tell us who and why here
