Hello Darlings,

I have realized that longer comics — those that span 8 or 12 panels — should be shared at once, rather than draw things out needlessly over weeks. Here are the remaining Nash the Slash strips all in one nice email. Notes follow.

Share music of the 80s

As of yesterday, Feb 16th, I am back at work-proper (I’ve been teaching on Zoom a couple months, now I’m back in the school itself), so I am lacking energy to say much here. I do want to share some Nash the Slash videos and information sources — then I’m tapping out and taking a nap.

Nash’s Retirement Letter (also an excellent list of his achievements)

Nash the Slash’s website

News of some nice vinyl re-releases, sadly a little too late

Interview: The first part of this interview’s about his various costumes; the second is about FM, his first band. The first one’s better.

Some Videos

This next one has really clippy sound, but it’s his cover of “We’re an American Band,” which I always find hilarious and delightful (he sings “I’m an American Band”). It’s from the tour Jim saw, the one with the shirt, and the one where he ran for prime minister as head of the Loud Party. The rest of the videos are notably stylistically varied: Nash the Slash was relentlessly creative and kept himself interesting.

Roadkill

If you dig Canadian cinema, Nash has a great part in RoadKill, Bruce McDonald’s first film. You’ll recognize him — I love Don McKellar’s amateur serial killer screaming that he doesn’t trust people who wear bandages on their face and that the show “… was an ACT OF VIOLENCE!”

Nash the Slash Documentary

A crowdfunded Documentary project has been in the works for a while, and recent updates make it sound like it’ll happen. Originally titled And You Thought You Were Normal, the film will now be called Nash the Slash Rises Again (a better title in my opinion). I hope it happens. I’ll watch it. I’d contribute to it, but the crowdfunding’s done and was successful. :)

Makes you wonder who else wonderful is sitting at your pub. Thanks for reading. Stay safe.
