How AI will transform or reshape the music industry and business? Will AI replace musicians? People are curious about AI’s impact on musicians.

This post introduces some AI generative music products and summarizes the difference between steaming music and AI music.

How’s the Music Quality Created by AI?

There are many posts and books talking about how AI affects our future. But most people can’t imagine that. Getting started with AI music is maybe a good choice.

No matter where you come from, music is a universal language in the world. Many people use the twelve notes to create different kinds of music.

There are more and more AI-based music services for customers. Mubert is a company creating electronic music like house, techno and electronica music by artificial intelligence.

Yating Live Music is the first AI music service in Taiwan developed by Taiwan AI Labs. It uses artificial intelligence technology to generate Jazz and piano music. Users can select the moods or themes you want and experience great music.

Supporting background playback — you can listen to Yating Live Music while you scroll through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Currently only the iOS version of Yating Live Music is available. The Android version is going to be released in October.

The best way to evaluate the quality of the music the AI generates is to download the app and listen to it with your ears. My personal habit is using many music apps alternatively. AI music app is a great option when I want to listen music without vocal.

The Difference Between Streaming Music and AI Music

On July 11, 2008, Apple released the iPhone 3G. Streaming music became a dominant role in digital music market since then. Up to now, we see more and more music software and apps that are related to AI.

I don’t think AI music is another type of streaming music or a competitor to streaming music. Here are the major differences between streaming music and AI music:

1. Royal-free copyrights

Streaming music service providers have to spend a lot of money for music licensing. AI music can generate creative and new music without royalty fees.

2. You can use the music you listen to

The music created by AI can be used with a photo or video and thereby creating new content for users. Taking Mubert app as example: the music in Mubert app can be applied to your photo or video sharing to social platforms like IG stories, Twitter and Facebook.

3. Interaction

If you take AI as a musician, it can listen to the performance of instrument players. It can create music with musicians or even the general public.

When AI can communicate with musicians and audiences, it can bring out brand-new experience. It also has more opportunities to develop cross-disciplinary business.

Next post will introduce the AI application related to music.
