Into temptation…
Good old temptation… see something go for it… it’s crazy how they say one falls into temptation, but it makes sense… cause when you are able to trust yourself and hence others you ‘decide’ your actions…. But you literally fall into temptation…you trust the wrong entity, the wrong belief.
Think about the simple situation, you on a diet, the chocolate in the cupboard calling your name… what is it about that call that is so loud in your head? It’s a choice, listen to the entity in your head calling you to derail your positive intent and cause you to choose to ‘fall into temptation’, or trust the entity looking to more long term positive outcomes. Notice I said you choose to ‘fall’, there is no denial of your choice after the effect. The devil made me, I was weak, no, own your response to the stimulus. You bought the chocolate in the first place, you were going to decide to have it at some point.
You see in the owning of this decision and the action that followed we take our power back to make the experience a learning one that we will hopefully not repeat again. This ownership helps us resolve to change our actions with an enriched understanding of why we did it in the first place. What was lacking to help us make a more positive action? You can then forgive yourself for being an imperfect human and move forward freeing yourself from the guilt or shame of the temptation that got the better of you. The action does not define who you are, your learning and actions from it define who you have chosen to be going forward.
“Guilty get no sleep
In the last slow hours of morning
Experience is cheap
I should’ve listened to the warning
But the cradle is soft and warm”
