The Motorleague in the studio with Brian Byrne and Eric Ratz.

We are pleased to announce that The Motorleague’s new EP is fully supported by Musiconomi. Juno award winning producer, Eric Ratz, Vespa Recording Studio and RPM (radio promotion team) were all paid using the MCI token. This partnership brings our vision and philosophy to life: to give artists more control and opportunities to implement new revenue streams and collaborate on a whole new level.

Why is this so important?

I speak from firsthand experience when I say that working in music is a tough gig. I’ve been making music for almost 30 years. Contrary to popular belief, playing in front of thousands of people a night doesn’t always translate into big earnings. For every album sold, I earned a (very) small fraction. Even after gold records and hit singles, I was still hanging cable from poles on the side of the road and cleaning a gym to make ends meet.

Fame is very rarely synonymous with wealth but people rarely talk about that. The sheer tenacity that is needed to succeed at even a regional level is commendable and should be rewarded appropriately.

Now fast forward a few years.

My experience as a musician fueled my desire to make things better; there had to be a better way. This brought me to Musiconomi. Musiconomi is one way we will bring change to create a more responsible music industry that takes care of its content creators and visionaries. The Musiconomi team is united by a desire to disrupt the music industry and reward true artists and fans — not just those with deep pockets.

I have been a fan of the The Motorleague from the first note I heard them play. They’re GOOD. And not just the “pretty good for a Canadian band” apathy we sometimes hear when we describe our homegrown talent (but I’ll save that for another post). My first meeting went a little something like this.

“Will anyone actually accept MCI as payment for services?”

“If anyone could produce this record, we’d want Eric Ratz but we could never afford him.”

Turns out lots of amazing people passionate about the music industry will accept MCI — including Vespa Studio, RPM promotions, and Eric Ratz. They all understood what we are trying to do. Our dream team is in place and MCI made it possible.

Musiconomi is supporting The Motorleague to prove that our vision is more than just that. We are using blockchain and crypto to shake things up and prove that there is a better way.

Announcing the recording of this album in that studio with that producer, the radio promotions team, and that very special band is beyond thrilling for me and the team at Musiconomi. This is about more than music. It’s about bringing change to music makers and fans. Thanks to all who believe in our vision.
