What a great song cover 😂 ! Photo by Fusion Medical Animation on Unsplash

While I sit quarantined in my room, away from the rest of my family, I decided to write a fun and light-hearted Covid-19 song. The credits go to my sister for this adaptation. She started singing “Corona-na-na-na” to the tune of Havana at the beginning of the global pandemic in March 2020.

As the number of cases in my hometown (Delhi-Gurgaon) surge, and as I sit alone after testing positive, this version of the song chorus is repeatedly playing in my head. And I couldn’t help but adapt all the lyrics to the song into a (funny?) Corona-themed anthem.

I apologize in advance since all the lyrics don’t entirely make sense. But then again, which song really always makes complete sense?

Hey

Corona, ro na-na (ayy)
Half of my lungs are in Corona, ro na-na (ayy, ayy)
It took me back to isolation, na-na-na, ah
Oh, but my lungs are in Corona (ayy)
There’s somethin’ ‘bout its proliferation (uh-huh)
Corona, ro-na-na (uh)

It didn’t walk up with that “how you doin’?” (uh)
When it came in the room
It said there’s a lot of people I can do with (uh)
And I’m gonna start with you
I knew I was a goner in a minute (hey)
That summer night in 2021
And papa says it got malo in it (uh)
It got me feelin’ like…

Ro, ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro (ayy)
I knew it when I met them (ayy), I got it when I left them
Got me feelin’ like, ro, ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro
And then I had to tell them, I got symptoms
Ro-na-na-na-na-na (woo)

Corona, ro na-na (ayy, ayy)
Half of my lungs are in Corona, ro na-na (ayy, ayy)
It took me back to isolation, na-na-na (uh huh)
Oh, but my lungs are in Corona (ayy)
My lungs are in Corona (ayy)
Corona, ro-na-na

Jeffery, just partied, fresh in Delhi, mmm
Fresh out isolation with no manners, damn (fresh out isolation)
Spread on the virus like a forest fire
Hey, I was quick to vax that girl like Uncle Sam (here you go, ayy)
Give it to me (give it to me)
Shawty spreadin’ to me, get to heatin’ on me (on me)

It waited on me (then what?)
Shawty spreadin’ to me, got the fever on me (wait up)
This is history in the makin’, on me (on me)
Point blank, close range, that B
If it cost a million, that’s on me (that’s on me)
I was gettin’ foola, baby

Corona, ro na-na (ayy, ayy)
Half of my lungs are in Corona, ro na-na (oh, ayy, ayy)
It took me back (uh huh) to isolation, na-na-na (oh, no)
Oh, but my lungs are in Corona (ayy)
My lungs are in Corona (ayy)
Corona, ro-na-na

Ro-na-na, oh-na-na-na (ro, ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro)
Take me back, back, back like…
Ro-na-na, oh-na-na-na (yeah, babe)
Take me back, back, back like…
Ro-na-na, oh-na-na-na (yeah, yeah)
Take me back, back, back like…
Ro-na-na, oh-na-na-na (yeah, babe)
Take me back, back, back
Hey, hey

Ro, ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro (hey)
Ro, ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro-ro (hey)
Take me away from my Corona

Corona, ro na-na (hey)
Now it’s time for the Vacuna na-na-na (oh, yeah)
To take me back to normal, (ayy, ayy) na-na-na
Oh, that’s how I’ll be safe from Corona
Two jabs of the Vacuna(ayy)
Vacuna, na-na-na

Uh-huh
Ro, na-na-na (oh, na, yeah)
Ro, na-na-na
Ro, na-na-na (no, no, no, take me back)
Ro, na-na-na
Corona, ro-na-na
