Blazing the way through

Here’s a not-so-conventional bicycle light

It’s not the first time that an unconventional idea has become a big hit.

Blaze Laserlight

With a dedicated team of bicycle enthusiasts, Emily Brooke, Founder and CEO of Blaze, has developed a different kind of bicycle light that promises to change the way of urban cycling.

Blaze’s Laserlight is the first ever flashlight that has a laser incorporated in its mechanism.

It serves as a bicycle light and at the same time, it illuminates motorists of the presence of a cyclist behind them. A majority of bicycle accidents occur in the infamous ‘blind spot’ of the motorists. This is the issue the laserlight addresses.

Here’s how it works: you mount the laserlight onto the handle bar of your bicycle, switch it on, and watch your way illuminated by the flash light. Also, the laser projects an image of a cyclist about five to six feet ahead of you, giving enough time and warning for the motorists to realize that a cyclist is on the way.

The laser projects in green, which is the easiest colour for human eyes. The light is USB chargeable, and supports three light modes: flashing, high and low.

Blaze is a new startup that plans to cater to all the needs of urban cyclists. They’ve begun with the laserlight and, according to Emily, are looking next at safety locks and helmets.

Though the laserlight is designed to illuminate cyclists during low light, the laser is visible even in daylight.

The Laserlight

Blaze Laserlight is based on the fact that urban cycling is quite unsafe. And it is an interesting concept, not to mention it’s useful. This seems to be the ultimate bicycle light that would provide a safe ride for cyclists.
