It’s going to rain dollars

Nobody misses a Facebook announcement, do they?

But, assuming you are like me, here’s the latest from the Facebook chambers: you might be forced to see certain video ads on your news feed anytime from Thursday. And what’s more, you have no control whatsoever over the video’s loading.

But you have a consolation: the ads won’t be too annoying because they will be mute.

Neat, huh?

No way!

Facebook’s mobile app has been doing really well during the rapidly passing year. And Facebook is ready to risk that growth by deciding to display the ads on mobile as well.

Facebook made the announcement on Tuesday, and certain users would be lucky enough to take a peek at the ads on Thursday itself.

No doubt that Facebook is about to end up gaining millions of dollars, but it is uncertain what would become of regular users.

Thanks for implementing a feature that will slow my browsing down considerably, and eat into my monthly data allowance,”

That was what an irritated Facebook user had to say about the announcement. He went a step further saying,

“Really appreciate how much you care about your actual users! All this ad revenue won’t mean anything when you've driven everyone away.”

This is quite what I felt too. Though I am not an avid Facebook user, I have a feeling that this is going to be much of a hindrance than anything else.
