Walking the Last Mile

Uncommon is the new success

Ever thought of what prisoners would do after their release? I know I never did.

But a few guys did think of it and have come up with a start up called “The Last Mile” (TLM). The sole purpose of the start-up is to help prisoners at the San Quentin State Prison find out more about the outside world, and jobs for those who manage to come out in one piece.

Chris Redlitz and his wife, Beverly Parenti are the brains behind this uncommon idea. Not to mention that this is a great thought. They teach the prison inmates about latest technology and innovations. And when they are free, they are free to find jobs.

It’s no easy work though. Prisoners have to get through a college program, and have to pass a few tests, including team work.

This is how it works, your new Facebook friend or your latest follower on Twitter just could be an inmate in the San Quentin State Prison. Oh, and your new colleague could have been a once-convict.

A great life for prisoners though. Now they too can get the life they want. Look at it as a non profit organization, and TLM is one highly helpful org. Look at it as a start-up, and TLM is a success.

Win-win. All the way.
