Living a Life of Fun: Adult Edition
The Art of Finding Yourself- when you are a grown-ass woman
I talked to a younger co-worker the other day, a cute woman in the middle of young motherhood. I told her that my husband and I had spent the latter half of our lives talking about having kids, trying to have kids, and raising our son.
Now, our son will be leaving for college in two weeks to begin a bachelor’s degree in science, learning computer programing and video games design.
My husband is a gamer. He has invested money and time in consoles (new and retro), computers (also new and retro), handhelds (you guessed it- new and retro), and oh, so, so many games.
This is his hobby and his passion. He rebuilds old computers and gaming equipment and relives the games of his childhood. He also plays new games, challenging himself to stay at least as current, if not more so, than our son. And he watches copious amounts of YouTube videos about all of this.
But, I am a 47-year-old, post-menopausal mother. I have devoted the past 18 years to raising my wonderful, nerdy son; and trying, unsuccessfully, to have more children. Now, despite working jobs that I love, I am about to find myself wondering what to do next: with my time, my money, my passion.
