What if God doesn’t bless me?

‘And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” ‘
Luke 21:1–4

Over the years, it’s been hammered into many believers, the blessings that await if he/she diligently engages in certain acts.

Taking a step backwards, what if I never get what I seek? what if I shaky welfare is perennial? even worse, what if I die a pauper?

A common reaction to these questions would be a resounding ‘God forbid!!’ but these questions need answers.

The crux of the matter is “expectation”. Many possess waxed expectations from God and disappointments cause their faith to waver. Their dedication to the work of God somewhat depends on some personal gain.

How many times have you heard of a believer denouncing the faith because of some unfortunate event?

They love “because”, but God really wants us to love “despite”.

Revelations 2:9 clearly indicates that it is possible to be materially poor but spiritually rich. While this is not a call to laziness, this is a call to our kingdom service when material blessings are far from us.

In the excerpt from the book Luke, we see a woman from whom we can pick vital lessons. A poor widow, who despite her predicaments thought it wise to offer a token.

Even in times of lack, may I be loyal to advancing the Father’s kingdom, Amen
