Frank Denbow is The new Musixmatch hero : meet SongVooDoo
Let’s say you’re out somewhere and you hear a great song playing on the sound system but just as you’re getting into it, the tune ends. And now you’re singing the chorus to yourself and trying to figure out how to identify the song and artist.
Here’s where our hero comes in. Frank is the creator of SongVoodoo.
Send a simple mobile text message (SMS) of the lyrics snippet to +1 917 934 3979 and get back an immediate response with the name of the track and the artist. For instance, send Go shawty its ya birthday and SongVoodoo sends you: That song is In da Club by 50 Cent.
Simple, right? And powerful.
Song lyrics are the poetry that surround us everyday as we go about our lives and now there’s an easy way to identify and discover those new songs that are getting into your head! Once you know the name of the song you can even send an SMS to listen to a clip of the song to get you singing again. Just send the text #play Michael Jackson billie jean and you will get a call back playing a clip of “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. Sweet !
SongVoodoo is built on the API’s of three wonderfully hacker-friendly companies, Twilio (for the SMS/text features), 7digital for the music clips and our own musiXmatch for the lyrics and was built during MusicHackday in NYCFrank has just gotten started, as he says :
