Welcome Marco Paglia, new Musixmatch’s Chief Product Officer
Since we’re all back to school I’d like to get the ball rolling by sharing this story with you: over the past 10 years I’ve travelled to California tons of time, giving me the pleasure of meeting loads of cool people there …
Where the story all began: It was 2014 and we were growing immensely on Google Play, and I started following Marco and his team on Google+ (RIP), watching his tutorials re: Google Play during Google IO (here and here).
As I always do, I connected with him via LinkedIn and decided to visit him during one of my trips to California — from that moment on we became friends.
We spent hours and hours chatting over the years whilst he worked @Google, @Youtube, @UP Time (his startup incubated into Google Accellerator Area 120), and @Uber, and I will always remember when he showed me the first beta of Motion Still — that he developed with his team @Google.
Motion Still is the Google equivalent of Apple Live Photo and it’s now embedded in all Android Devices and i Google Photos App.
More than talking with Marco, I’ve always listened to him.
We spoke about his long term vision, his experience, his obsessions with Design which he always embraced as a Platform , and his incredible way of working with talented people — this has always captured my attention.
Marco has not only been following each and every milestone of Musixmatch, he’s also been following each one of us as team, reading all news posted by us, using our products and giving feedback.
His been involved over all these years, all the time!
I didn’t convince Marco to join Musixmatch, but Musixmatch as a whole did it!
I’d like to emphasise that having Marco @Musixmatch is a big gift for us all, and I’m so excited to see how we will evolve!
Believe me when I say, his job, experience and passion will have a big impact on us all.
Marco is joining us as the Chief Product Officer leading the Product & Content Team vision and operations , also Marco will lead the AI Team too as AI is backing now most of our platform.
